It's just pure fun on many of these retro slots, especially ones like Tailgate Party! Standard play is a lines-based game where you win by landing winning combinations on paylines and true to form, 5-line hits of premium symbols pay very well.
There are 3 bonuses in Tailgate Party to keep it even more entertaining: Cheerleader Bonus, Bar-B-Que Blitz Bonus, and the 1st and 10 Bonus.
The Cheerleader Bonus is triggered by landing cheerleader symbols in reels 1 and 5 in the same row for a random award between 3 and 10 times your total bet.
The Bar-B-Que Blitz Bonus is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 scattered bonus symbols after which you are presented with 3 plates. You then select 9 food items to fill your plates after which credit values associated with each of your picks are revealed. You are then awarded the highest value only from each of your plates. The more scattered bonuses symbols you initially land will determine the range of what you can win:
3 symbols: 6 to 13 times your total bet
4 symbols: 11 to 33 times your total bet
5 symbols: 18 to 75 times your total bet
The 1st and 10 Bonus is where the money is, and is triggered by landing 3, 4, or 5 bonus symbols although they must be on a payline. The bonus is essentially a Pick bonus where you choose clipboards for Yards with the hope of scoring a 1st Down, and eventually a Touch Down. If you are within 30 yards or less and your 10 yards aren't covered by 4th down, you will attempt to kick a Field Goal. If you successfully score a Field Goals or Touch Down, an additional bonus will be awarded, as you will see!
Similar to the Bar-B-Que Blitz, the more scattered bonuses symbols you initially land will determine the range of what you can win:
3 symbols: 6 to 280 times your initiating line bet
4 symbols: 8 to 580 times your initiating line bet
5 symbols: 9 to 1080 times your initiating line bet
