You win in the base game by landing winning paylines although it's really all about the "Locking Coin Spin" feature in this one, and it's a great one!
The Locking Coin Spin feature is triggered by landing 5 or more coins and to help, the middle symbol on reel 3 is guaranteed to always be either a coin or the wild symbol, and it's the last to be shown with quite dramatic effect. The bonus plays like Lightning Link's Hold & Spin feature, where you begin with 3 spins and for each coin that lands, your spin count resets to 3. Coins have values of 100, 50, 20, 15, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 multiplied by your total bet. In addition, various Progressives can also be won with the Top Progressive awarded by landing all 15 coins! A really fun feature unique to Screaming Links is that on any spin, a Dragon symbol may land and if it does, whatever value is on the center reel position doubles although note, Progressive Coins will NOT land in that position. If the bonus was triggered without a coin landing in the center, a coin is added to the center when the first Dragon symbol lands. Finally, I'll note that when a Dragon does land, it DOES NOT reset your spin count to 3. First off thanks for a long form video if this machine. I have to point out though that the Mulan, Balls of Fire, and Egyptian machines seem to be the most volatile and least like to bonus. The Irish and two Zuo Ci and Zhang machines tend to be far more consistent.
I've been wanting someone else tackling these games for awhile because I think they may be hidden gems hiding in plain sight. Just boring enough looking to get passed over, just vanilla enough in low bet bonuses to discourage repeat play sessions.
But strangely enough, I've found them to be the single most reliable machines to turn Free Credit into actual $$. They have a giant dead zone in 1c denom bets above $1 but have a great back to back bonus ratio at higher bets in the 2c and 5c range. In other words, I swear they bonus more often at higher denom/higher bets, which I've never really seen in any other "link," slot.
If you get a chance Tim could you try progressive betting some of the variants i mentioned above when casinos open? I have a feeling you will be pleasently surprised.
