Movies & TV

Especially today when there's so many new slot machines competing for floor space, a challenge for designers is to create something that catches people's attention, and what better way to do so than to piggyback off of something familiar from both the big and small screen! And I agree this works to draw attention, but in the end, the slot still has to be good and can't just rely on its theme to get repeat play. The well-designed games may survive over the long term, although I question the longevity of slots based on shows that may only be temporarily popular. Even one of the most popular slot machines of all-time that was based on a TV show, Sex and the City, is now becoming harder to find on the casino floor. Regardless, a solid slot is a solid slot which you can enjoy even if you haven't seen the TV show or movie it was based on!
